Pink As A Panther

Sizen

Main Stage

Formed in October 2003, SIZEN is a war cry of four dedicated and focused musicians who aspire to play the BIG STAGE in the world of musical chaos.

Committed to our music we deliver a solid, raw sound with interesting licks and riffs and a message that we are here to play music we enjoy. Whilst maintaining the important balance of enjoying life we see this as essential in creating music that moves us as well as our audience.

As individuals, we see many issues in life differently but even with such differences of opinion our music unifies us whilst also, we hope, creating a bridge of understanding between us and our audiences.

What are our aims for the future? That's an easy question to answer. Write, record and hopefully perform tonnes more original music world wide, anywhere and everywhere where our sound and direction will be enjoyed. SIZEN ARE CURRENTLY FINISHING THEIR DEBUT ALBUM.

Mark Newnham

Second Stage

Mark has been performing like crazy around the South of England for the last few years. He’s in a big loud rock band called Zevicon, but he’s prone to more gentle acoustic moments too.

Over the last year or so he’s been running the Tuesday Night Open Myk night at The Bridge House in Copsale, and he also works as a promoter for Belushi’s Bar in Brighton. In short he’s a musical action man, guaranteed to hit your special place.

Leah

His sound, although unique and has been described as being avant-garde, intimate and heartfelt. If you wanted to pigeon-hole it you could liken it to artists such as Badly Drawn Boy, Billy Corgan, Doves, Joy Division, Neil Young and Radiohead. Come and soothe your insides to This Lonely Soul on the Acoustic Stage, Saturday 26th May.

Danny Wheeler

Second Stage

Sunday 27th May

Floors & Walls

Main Stage

It’s rare to see a band doing anything really new, but Floors and Walls are bucking the trend with a genuinely original sound. Frontman, MC, and all-round lad Alex Adams comes from a drum n’ bass background, while the rest of the band was raised on the likes of Rage Against the Machine, the Chili Peppers, and Muse. The result has been described as “The Streets meets Rage Against the Machine.”

There is a tangible excitement in the audience at Floors and Walls gigs, and that’s because people know they are seeing the start of something important. “I think the best music happens when you combine polar opposites,” explains guitarist Dom McNulty, “We sound a bit like the Arctic Monkeys on speed!”

Because of the band’s unique fusion of sounds, Floors and Walls have the opportunity to cross over between the usually separate audiences for drum n’ bass and rock music. “I think everybody can take something from it because it’s so diverse,” says Ian. “We all bring our own influences to it and see what happens.”

Having played venues from Brighton to London to Birmingham to Manchester they are not known to shy away from any gig. Acta Non Verba

Main Stage

"Our music's aim is to explore new boundaries. New ideas. New concepts. We write songs about the world around us, about the people who control this
world, and the bystanders who watch all that happen. There is little we can
specifically do ourselves to change what happens - we are insignificant. But
what we can do is hope to inspire and reach out to those who are looking for
a voice, an idea to cling on to, a shred of hope in this world of photocopy
minds.

Think what you will about our music - we make it for you to enjoy and
experience. Actions not Words."

Mike, Greg, Joe, Tim and Jake

Brian Murray

Second Stage

Brian Murray is a travelling troubadour in the classic sense.  Over the last twenty years he’s played his songs across forteen continents to thousands of different types of life forms.  As well as playing music, he’s well known as a publican and promoter.  His hard work over the last year has seen The Bridge House become an integral part of the Horsham Live music scene.  Catch him on stage two on Sunday night!

Zauberei

Second Stage

Zauberei are an acoustic trio from Horsham who originally formed to play the
town's Acoustic Battle of the Bands competition in 2005.
Following this show, the band have seized the opportunity to play as many
gigs as possible in the local area and won the 2006 Finals Acoustic BOTB
Finals. A support gigs with renowned acoustic performer Charlie Dore has
helped raise their profile even higher, and the band now look forward to
putting in a great show at Miffstock on Sunday night.

Crawfie

Second Stage

In 1998 the insane authoress, Barbara Cartland, celebrated a particularly productive year and the publication of her seventeen thousandth hardcore epic ‘He Took Her Up The Arc De Triomphe’.  During her Sonatogen and Crack fuelled bender she forced her private physician, Dr. Phil Mitchell, to create an aphrodisiac so potent, it would lay to waste all but the truly liberated.
One molecule of this ungodly solution escaped, learnt some tunes and appears before you today.

(Dave and Andy are very sorry.  They have played together in Horsham bands for 10 years and are delighted to be performing at this year’s Miffstock.)

Lee Martin

Second Stage

Lee Martin's dark, brooding vocals have been described as a melting of Mark
Lanegan and Layne Stayley. Lee's like a general anesthetic... soothing, but
uncomfortable.

Chris Robertson

Second Stage

Chris has made his name in the local music scene fronting the spoof Metal band Loki, since the split of the band in February last year he has undergone numerous other projects as a vocalist.
Chris's first instrument is guitar and after being needed purely as a vocalist over the past year he felt his guitar qualities were being overlooked. So after a few minuets of deliberation he decided to write some acoustic songs to perform at Open Mic nights and other acoustic events in the area, Chris's warped and in your face sense of humour has led his songs to be very entertaining and is sure to put a smile on people's faces when he descends upon the Bridge House Stage at Miffstock MMVII.
