Each year nearly 2,000 children and young people under 21 are diagnosed with cancer. Sargent Cancer Care for Children supports them and their families at home and in hospital from the day of diagnosis.
Sargent provides practical help and financial assistance to families in need. The charity funds a network of highly skilled Sargent Care Professionals based at major cancer centres throughout the UK .
The Charity provides short therapeutic breaks for families at our residential centre at Prestwick in Scotland . Sargent also offers a wide range of short breaks, workshops and vocational training for young people at a residential resource centre at Bexley, South London .
On average, Sargent gives out £7,600 in grants EVERY DAY. In the last year, Sargent gave out grants totalling £1.9million to families in need. The grants cover a variety of needs including travelling expenses, subsistence and housing costs. All requests for grants are answered within 48 hours, and normally paid out within 24 hours.
